How do you show yourself love?


The tone of my blog is mostly lighthearted as this is the vibe I try to share and attract to others, with as much humor as appropriately possible. This mentality keeps me positive and in good spirits, but there are naturally times when it is important to be more serious. Today I want to discuss the importance of loving yourself and the best ways to show yourself the tender love it so desperately needs.

One of the most important things to becoming a stronger and overall better person is loving yourself first. If you aren’t happy with yourself then everything you project out into the world will also hold some of this unhappiness and come on now, that’s not fair to anybody else. This by no way means being happy and showing love all the time because we all know that is not realistic or possible. Some days I want to throw a rock (or twelve) at a car window, but I refrain. There are s many obstacles and unexpected events that can act as hiccups and negativity to our daily flow, but if you continue to practice providing love to yourself you will extend this powerful love into the world as well.

So, how do you love yourself? This is something I work on every day and still struggle with often. In a world that feeds off of bringing each other down at times, you are the only person that can raise yourself back up. Below are some suggestions for maintaining and growing self-love.

  1. Compliment and congratulate yourself on any progress you make to achieving your goals, no matter how small.
  2. Treat your body with kindness. This can be expressed in many forms such as eating healthy, working out regularly, practicing breathing techniques, buying a cozy bed to dive into every night etc.!
  3. Positive Talking
    1. I wholeheartedly believe in this because it is the number one thing that helps me the most. Talk yourself up, feed your body with good words, and believe what you’re saying. If you don’t believe what you’re saying then keep saying it until you believe it! Most importantly, remember that you are hot shit. You just are. Oh, and you’re unstoppable too.
  4. Take time for yourself when needed. This could be by treating yourself to something you’ve had your eye on for months, or taking a personal day to light candles and sing in the bathtub. Whatever fills you with joy.

It is so hard to be fully comfortable in your skin, but each day you can work towards that. When happy with yourself you are happy towards others and can then give them genuine kindness, respect, and love. Your love is so ferocious, who wouldn’t want a little splash of it!?
